implementing the ideas of metamodernism. Our organisation is peer-to-peer-based
and sustained as a horizontal process management model. At the core of COEXIST
as an initiative is the belief in equality of expression and the active professional
development of students.
In a few words, together we create, engage, and further expand the
environment needed for the professional growth of young artists, curators, and
educators such as ourselves. In the second edition of the event, we are focussing on
the idea of collaboration between international students.
COEXIST was started in 2023 as an idea for engagement between students
of different majors at the Faculty of Fine Arts in the University of Veliko Tarnovo,
Bulgaria. Last year’s edition won the rector’s award for creative achievements. The
event itself took place in the Sculptural campus of the university and was opened for
viewers on the 5th of December.
The COEXIST’24 call for artists is open to all students at any stage of their
education—newly enrolled BA’s, MA’s, PhD students, and recently graduates from
any major across the field of the visual arts. Participation is entirely free of charge.
Because we are curious about your work! This invitation is an opportunity for
you to engage and give shape to the environment in which we present ourselves as
young artists. We value diversity, interesting concepts, and current topics – if you feel
the same, then this invitation is just right for you!
COEXIST’24 is initiated as a collaboration between the students of The
Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts Łódź, Poland, and the students at the University
of Veliko Tarnovo “St. St. Cyril and Methodius” Faculty of Fine Arts.
